Local Attorney To Chair Upcoming
Special Olympics Fundraiser

September 25, 2002, Pleasanton, California

...The Northern California chapter of the International Special Olympics organization has named an attorney from Randick O'Dea, & Tooliatos, LLP, a Pleasanton law firm, as the Chairman for the upcoming "Walk for the Gold" fundraising event scheduled for October 5th.

"Walk for the Gold" is designed to raise the necessary funding to support the year-round sports training and competition for the Special Olympics athletes in the Tri-Valley area.

"Walk for the Gold" brings together people of all ages from throughout our community, helping to not only raise the necessary funds but also to raise awareness for Special Olympics. As with other areas participating in "Walk for the Gold," walkers raise money by asking friends, family, business associates and co-workers to sponsor them. Additional funds are raised through company sponsorships and matching gifts.

This year's goal is $120,000. It's a significant part of the monies we need to keep our program going, but it's one I know we'll meet. Major sponsors for this year's event include Cal Fed, Documentum, Sybase and the Tri-Valley Herald. The October 5th event will depart from the Hart Middle School at Hacienda Business Park. The local contact for participation is Colleen Gaard, who can be reached at (510) 553-9833.
